  • Low Dose Naltrexone

What can it be used for? Chronic Pain & Inflammation Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Fibromyalgia Eczema Depression Multiple Sclerosis Crohn’s Disease Low & High Thyroid Arthritis …and many more How does it work? By modulating the immune system By briefly blocking opioid receptors, it causes an increase of your body’s own endorphins. By reducing the release of pro-inflammatory signals By regulating cell generation How do I take it? By mouth every day before bedtime Doses are typically titrated up to a target dose, but each person may respond best to their own tailored dose. Finding your best dose may take multiple months. What are the side effects? Side effects are generally mild Most common side effects are trouble sleeping and vivid dreams but most report those resolve within the 1st week. If bothersome, doses can be taken in the morning instead of at night Some patients report feeling worse at first Sometimes reducing the dose will help minimize side effects What if I am already on opioids? Low dose naltrexone can cause withdrawal symptoms – very low doses of naltrexone may help minimize this while still providing benefit Low dose naltrexone can be stopped temporarily when opioids are needed for procedures or injuries

  • Allergies

Ensure adequate filtered water intake Clean up your diet - organic vegetables, fruits, and protein and avoid dairy products Stay indoors with filtered air (check the type and cleanliness of your HVAC filter) Take a shower directly after coming in from the outside Bathe indoor pets that may carry in pollen Over the counter antihistamines (loratadine, fexofenadine, cetirizine, & levocetirizine) can give some relief. These medications can cause dry mouth and drowsiness, especially with higher doses and as we get older Antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or chlorpheniramine (Chor-Trimeton) generally should be avoided in people over the age of 65. They can cause confusion, constipation, urine retention, and affect brain function. Wellspring has natural supplements that include (vitamin c, stinging nettle, quercetin, n-acetylcysteine, and bromelain to support immune system balance, nasal, sinus, & respiratory health, and promote normal mucus thickness.

  • Bone Health

Get plenty of calcium & vitamin D in your diet (fish, nuts, & green leafy vegetables) Make sure you're not eating too much sodium as it can reduce bone strength (canned & processed foods) Food high in oxalates (spinach, rhubarb, beet greens, beans) should not be eaten at the same time as foods high in calcium, as they limit calcium's absorption Drink caffeine in moderation Regular exercise to prevent bone loss and improve muscle health Most adults should strive for 1000 mg per day of calcium. Women over 50 and men over 70 should get 1200 mg per day. Bones need more than just calcium to preserve and build strength. Other nutrients like vitamin D, magnesium, phosphorus, fiber, protein, vitamin k, zinc, vitamin b, boron, and carotenoids all play a part Calcium supplements come in many forms and each has different amounts of elemental calcium: Calcium Carbonate (40%) - requires adequate stomach acid for absorption Calcium Citrate (21%) Calcium Gluconate (13%) Calcium Lactate (9%) MCHC/MCHA (microcrystalline hydroxyapatite) - comes from whole bone of animals and provides calcium as well as other minerals, nutrients, and growth factors that support bone strength. It is in a microcrystalline form to increase absorption. This has about 24% calcium and 10% phosphorus. Other supplements like collagen, tocotrienols, reduced iso-alpha acids, and berberine can be added to adequate mineral intake in some patients Come speak with a Wellspring pharmacist for more information Calcium Magnesium Vitamin D Phosphorus Vitamin K Fiber Protein Boron Vitamin B for Bone Strength

Schedule an appointment with a functional medicine pharmacist Have you ever thought... My friends and family did not have this many issues when approaching menopause. What does this feel so bad? Why is my blood pressure high? What can I do to lower it? Is there something else I can do to lower my cholesterol? I am on multiple medications for my diabetes and it just keeps getting worse. What am I missing? My doctor said I have fatty liver disease. Why did this happen and what do I do now?
